Scope of work
The right attention
at the right stage.
- 01
Copyediting
Sentence-level work on clarity, flow and consistency. An edit can reduce repetition, resolve awkward phrasing and raise questions where meaning needs an author's decision. Agree the intended reader and level of intervention first.

Proofreading
A check of near-final text for remaining spelling, punctuation and consistency errors. A designed page may also need attention to headings, page references and captions. Major rewriting belongs at an earlier stage.

Editorial consistency
A focused review of repeated terms, names, capitalisation and presentation. A project style sheet can make decisions easier to apply across a document and its later revisions.

For a useful estimate, describe the subject, word count, format, deadline and current draft stage. The proposal should define deliverables, revision rounds, fees and approval responsibilities.
